Strong system impacting WWA this weekend

a strong 130+ knot jet streak will be parking itself in our area today and hanging around for the weekend ... WWA will be positioned more or less in the left exit region of the jet (see below), leading to some interesting weather ...  the NWS has issued winter storm watches for the cascades and the passes.

GFS - US - 300mb - 24hr

Associated with this system is the advection of some very cold air (for this time of year) out of the Gulf of Alaska ... 850mb temps in the -6 to -8 deg C range (see below). This should drop the freezing level down to 1500 - 2000ft and given the spring insolation (amount of energy/heating from the sun), result in unstable conditions. With 50+ knot winds at 700mb, the instability could result in some strong winds mixing down to the surface. Plus, these are prime conditions for hail, t-storms, and possibly a funnel cloud or two.... especially in the Puget Sound convergence zone, given the constant west-northwesterly wind through Sunday after the cold front passes tonight.
